A World Made of Blocks
How does Minecraft build an endless world out of blocks?

The story
Every Minecraft world starts from a number called a seed. The game feeds that number through math rules to grow mountains, caves and oceans, which is why a seed shared with a friend builds the very same world. Even the Creeper was an accident: a coding slip stretched a pig the wrong way, and Notch kept it.
What you'll learn
- Blocks in Minecraft work like atoms: a few kinds combine into everything.
- A seed plus procedural rules can generate a whole world from one number.
- The Creeper was born from a coding mistake that turned out to be fun.
- Kid takeaway: redstone is real logic, so building circuits is real engineering.
