The story
A tardigrade can survive boiling, freezing and even outer space by curling into a dried-out tun. A mantis shrimp punches with the speed of a bullet, an electric eel delivers a 600-volt jolt, and an octopus changes color and texture in a heartbeat.
What you'll learn
- Tardigrades survive by drying out and pausing their whole body.
- A mantis shrimp's punch is so fast it boils a bit of water.
- Electric eels stack special cells like batteries in a row.
- Kid takeaway: every superpower in comics has a real animal version.
