Quarky is writing this for you...

The story

Singapore is small and has almost no rivers, so Quarky follows a raindrop instead. It runs off roofs and roads into drains, into reservoirs, through filters and cleaning steps, and comes back out of a tap. The whole island is built to catch its own water.

What you'll learn

  • Water can be collected, cleaned and used again and again.
  • Singapore catches rain across most of the island and stores it in reservoirs.
  • Filtering and treating water removes the tiny things that could make you sick.
  • Quarky takeaway: when a resource is scarce, you get clever about not wasting a drop.
