The story
In 1983 so many rushed games flooded stores that shoppers gave up, and truckloads of unsold cartridges were buried in a New Mexico desert. Nintendo rebuilt trust with careful games, then the Game Boy and Tetris put a whole world on a chip you could carry in a pocket.
What you'll learn
- A cartridge stores a game's code on silicon chips you can hold in your hand.
- The 1983 crash happened when quantity beat quality.
- Nintendo won players back by testing games carefully before selling them.
- Kid takeaway: doing fewer things well beats doing many things badly.
