The Girl Who Turned Code Into A Game
Can a board game teach you to write code?
Dig deeper
Quarky is writing this for you...
The story
Eight-year-old Samaira Mehta watched her dad program and wanted her friends to understand it too. In 2016 she designed CoderBunnyz, a board game where players lay down cards as instructions to move a bunny to a carrot. Sequences, loops and fixing mistakes are all in the rules, and it became a real published game.
What you'll learn
- An algorithm is an ordered list of instructions a computer follows exactly.
- A loop repeats steps instead of writing them out over and over.
- Debugging means finding the one step that sent you the wrong way.
- Kid takeaway: the best way to learn something is to teach it to a friend.
